Foiled again! Almost…

So it was just over a week ago when I put up my last post. In that post I talked about how long it had been since I had played a proper game of Warmachine.

The plan was to play that night, however things don’t always go to plan! Last week I was foiled by our clubs AGM, which wasn’t supposed to last long but in the end took up most of our time at the club. The Thursday after my wife and I fell foul to sickness bug that seems to be doing the rounds. As such the game I had planned with a buddy, who has moved away and was back for the weekend, had to be cancelled. Foiled again!

However, as the more astute of you in the audience will realise, I am now writing this post on a Wednesday. What does this mean I hear you ask… Continue reading

Vapnartak! A tournament write up, part 1.

This Sunday I attended a 35 point, 4 game, Warmachine/Hordes tournament at the Vapnartak wargaming show in York.

Due to time constraints each round was limited to an hour which was a bit of shame as it would limit the ability to actually win some of the scenarios.

I did have two lists put together, Irusk and eVlad, but I only actually used the Irusk list. Here is that list…

Harlan Versh
Eiryss, Mage Hunter of Ios
Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich

10 Winter Guard Infantry
Officer & Standard
1 Winter Guard Rockateer
Aiyana &Holt

What follows is a short report of the four games I played.

Game one, Scenario – Assasination (‘caster kill)

So game one was drawn and I was pitted against Nathan, who I have known for just over a year, with his Cygnar army led by eHaley…

A 50 point battle report…

Well, I was going to try to give this report a fluffy name but after trying to think of a something I came up blank. As such welcome to the first of, hopefully, many battle reports.

My good buddy, and player of a delightfully pink Menoth army, Neal had a 50 point game on Tuesday night, and here’s how it went down.

Army Lists

Kommandant Irusk
War Dog

Great Bears of Gallowswood
Kayazy Assasins (6)
Kayazy Underboss
Kossite Woodsmen (6)
Winter Guard Infantry (10)
Winter Guard Officer and Standard
3 Winter Guard Rockateers
Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich
Yuri the Axe

Grand Scrutator Severius
Blessing of Vengence

Avatar of Menoth

Choir of Menoth (4)
Deliverer Sunburst Crew
Deliverers (10)
2 Vassals of Menoth
3 Wracks

We rolled for a scenario out of prime and got Killing Field. The aim of the mission is to earn 7 control points by controlling 3 points across the board.

I won the starting roll and decided to go first.

Stop Press! Winter Guard Rifle Corps hit the front page.

You read right the new Winter Guard Rifle Corps are up on the Privateer Press website.

Here’s a pic if you can’t be bothered clicking the link…

Winter Guard Rifle Corps

They look sweet!

Here’s their description…

A number of Winter Guard conscripts have recently trained to use of rifles as part of the ongoing modernization of the Khadoran army. Those selected to join the Rifle Corps receive advanced training with their Blaustavya military rifles. When ordered by their sergeant, a Rifle Corps squad can produce such a tremendous volume of fire in a general area as to make it virtually impassable to enemy troops.

Sounds like they will be getting suppressing fire which should be interesting!

It’s been a while.

Hello out there…

Firstly I would like to apologise, I have bee neglecting this blog and it has lay dormant for nearly a week!

Why oh why has it taken so long to update? I hear you ask.

Well, I’ve been busy, mostly doing nothing! I have been struggling with motivation and haven’t really been up to much.

However while I have been gone there has been one bit of interesting news. The model for Kommander Viktor Strakhov has been previewed on the Privateer Press website.

Friday 13th, unlucky for some?

Well not me!

Not yet anyway…

I have had a couple of good things happen recently.

The first is in relation to the damaged Grind game I recently picked up. After opening the box i discovered that one of the bags of bits had caused some damage to the game board. I sent Privateer Press an email to which they have replyed saying they are going to send me a whole new box! Excellent service guys and I can’t wait to get hold of the new box and try out a few games.

My second bit of good news came in the form of a mysterious brown envelope, well ok it wasn’t that mysterious, but i was excited to open it anyway.

The source of said envelope was a fellow member of the Coolminiornot forum who, like myself was taking part in the 22nd Miniature Exchange.

The premise is simple. A list of names is drawn up, from people who want to take part, and you send some miniatures to the person below you on the list.

I got a nice little haul including Morghur, Master of Skulls! and an Avatars of War Orc Shaman both of the models are very nice and look like they could be fun to paint. While my priority is still on getting as much of my Khador stuff painted, if I fancy a change I can always have a look at painting something different.

On the subject of painting Khador, after spraying those Winter Guard and the two ‘casters, I have had to go back and cover all the areas the spray didn’t quite get to. Thats done so in the next couple of nights I should be able to make a start. I will probably begin with the metalics as they tend to be messiest. I’ll try and take some progress shots for everyone to see.

Thanks for reading.
